Reliability Explorer Tab

The Reliability Explorer tab lets you create and manage reliability reports. A reliability report aggregates policy execution results across a selected set of assets, data sources, or policies into a single score, allowing you to track data reliability trends over time and across your organization.

Note

Reliability scores are aggregated using the method configured under Settings > Data Reliability > Score aggregation methodology: Policy Based Simple Averaging, Rule Based Simple Averaging, or Rule Based Row Weighted Averaging. The methodology selected in Settings determines which report creation flow is available, as described below.

Report templates

When Rule Based Row Weighted Averaging is the active scoring method, the Reliability Explorer tab displays two report templates above the reports list: Rules Report and Column Report. Select a template to open a new report pre-configured for that report type. For details on how Row-Weighted scores are calculated, see Score Aggregation Methodology.

Rules report

The Rules Report shows reliability at the rule level. It includes:

  • Reliability Score: The overall score for the selected time period.
  • Policies Executed: A breakdown of policies run by type — Data Quality, Reconciliation, Data Drift, Schema Drift, Data Cadence, and Profile Anomaly.
  • Rows Processed: Total rows processed, with a Passed/Failed breakdown.
  • Rules Executed: Total rules executed, with a Passed/Failed breakdown.
  • Data Reliability Scores: A table of scores, groupable by Data Source.
  • Performance Trend: A trend chart of Data Reliability Score, Data Quality, and Reconciliation over time.
  • Assets: A list of the assets included in the report.

Column report

The Column Report shows reliability at the column level, letting you pinpoint which specific columns are driving data quality issues. It includes:

  • Rules by Execution Status: A Passed/Failed breakdown of configured rules.
  • Columns: The columns included in the report.
  • Rules by Dimension: Rules configured, broken down by data quality dimension — Uniqueness, Validity, Accuracy, Consistency, Completeness, Timeliness, and Others.
  • Score By Dimension: Quality scores broken down by dimension.
  • Rules Trend by Dimension: A trend of rule counts by dimension, filterable by execution status (for example, Failed).

Apply filters to a report

Both report types support the same filters: Time, Source Type, Data Source, Tag, Policy Type, and Scoring Type, plus a search box to find a specific asset by name. Select Clear All to reset all filters.

Reports list

The reports list shows all reliability reports available to you, with the following columns:

Column

Description

Name

The report name. Select to open and view the report.

Description

An optional description of the report's scope or purpose.

Report Type

The scoring method used by this report. Policy Simple Avg calculates a simple average of policy scores. Row Weighted Avg weights scores by row count.

Last Modified

When the report was last updated.

Schedule

The scheduled refresh frequency for this report, if configured. Shown as "-" if no schedule is set.

Note

Changing the scoring methodology under Settings > Data Reliability > Score Aggregation does not retroactively recalculate existing saved reports. A saved report continues to use the Report Type and methodology that were active when it was created. The new methodology applies only to reports created after the change.

Create a report

The report creation flow depends on the scoring methodology configured under Settings > Data Reliability > Score aggregation methodology.

If Policy Based Simple Averaging is active:

  • On the Reliability Explorer tab, select New Report.
  • The report opens directly, showing:
  • A Reliability score summary, along with Total Policies (by policy type) and Total Policy Executions.
  • A Performance Trend chart with a Metric selector: Data Reliability Scores, Policy Executions by Policy Type, Policy Executions by Policy Status, or Rule Success by Data Dimension Scores.
  • A Summary section, grouped by Data Source (or another grouping), with Data Reliability Scores and Policy Execution Metrics tabs.
  • Assets and Policies tabs listing per-item score breakdowns.
  • Use the available filters — Watched Assets, Time, Source Type, Data Source, Tag, Policy Type, and Last Result — to scope the report.
  • Click the Save button and complete the dialog (see Save Reliability Report Dialog below) and select Save. The report appears in the reports list and can be opened at any time to view the latest results.

If Rule Based Row Weighted Averaging is active:

  • On the Reliability Explorer tab, select either the Rules Report or Column Report template card. Both methodologies use the same two report templates.
  • Rules Report shows Rules by Execution Status, Rules by Dimension, a rule-level results table, and a Rules Trend by Dimension chart.
  • Column Report shows column-level rule execution results and dimension scores.
  • Within the report, use the Scoring Type filter to choose between Row Weighted and Simple Averaging for that view.
  • Adjust the filters (Time, Source Type, Data Source, Tag, Policy Type, Scoring Type) to scope the report to the assets or policies you want to include.
  • Select Save. This opens the Save Reliability Report dialog.
  • Complete the dialog (see Save Reliability Report Dialog below) and select Save. The report appears in the reports list and can be reopened at any time to view the latest results.

Save your reliability report

Click the Save button on a report to open the Save Reliability Report dialog, where you must name the report and configure delivery before saving:

  • Name: The report name. Defaults to "Untitled_Report" if left blank. [Confirm whether a name is required or optional before publishing.]
  • Description: An optional description of the report's scope or purpose.
  • Add Report to Resource Group(s): Optionally assign the report to one or more resource groups.
  • Schedule toggle: Enable to configure how often the report is generated:
  • Every: The frequency (for example, Day).
  • Time Zone: The time zone used for scheduled runs.
  • At [hour]:[minute] past the hour: The execution time. Select + Add another hour to add multiple execution times.
  • The dialog displays the next scheduled run under Execution Schedule.
  • Select notification channels: Choose where the report is delivered.

Select Test to send a test run of the report, or Save to save it.

Brand your report

To add your organization's name and logo to distributed reports, go to Control Center > Settings > Report Configuration.

Best practices

  • Use Watched assets to focus on critical objects.
  • Group by Policy type to isolate issues such as Schema Drift.
  • Compare high and low scores to identify unstable periods.
  • Sort the Assets table to find assets with the lowest scores or highest execution volume.
