Release Notes 3.7.x

All versions of Pulse are supported for maintenance for a period of 18 months following their release. This maintenance support includes updates for security vulnerabilities, bug fixes, Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVEs), and the introduction of new features, among other improvements. After the 18-month support period, we strongly recommend transitioning to the most recent version or to another version that continues to receive support. This ensures an enhanced user experience.

Important

Pulse 3.7.x End of Life (EOL)

Pulse version 3.7.x will reach End of Life (EOL) on 24 October 2026.

  • We recommend upgrading to the latest supported Pulse version before the EOL date to continue receiving technical support, bug fixes, and security updates.
  • Please contact Acceldata Support if you need assistance with your upgrade.

Legacy Pulse UI Deprecation

The legacy Pulse UI will be deprecated on 1 November 2026.

  • Starting with Pulse 4.0.0, all new integrations, enhancements, and critical bug fixes have been delivered exclusively in the new Pulse UI. The legacy UI will no longer receive new features or functional enhancements.
  • We recommend upgrading to Pulse 4.1.x or later to continue receiving the latest features, improvements, and ongoing support.

Version 3.7.1

Important

To use the latest Pulse 3.7.1 version, you must upgrade your Docker version to 20.10.x or higher and perform the required migration steps. For more information, see Upgrade to Version 3.7.1.

Pulse supports N-2 to N versions during migration.

What's New

This section consists of new features and enhancements introduced in this release.

Every Pulse release is cumulative, incorporating all features and fixes from previous releases. The Pulse 3.7.1 release also includes the scope of the recently released 3.6.5 and 3.6.6 versions. For details, see the Pulse 3.6.5 Release Notes and Pulse 3.6.6 Release Notes.

  • Scram Support in Pulse Kafka 3: Pulse Kafka 3 now supports Scram-based authentication. For details on how to enable it, see Enable Scram-based Authentication in Kafka 3.
  • New Hive Hook Jar: This release introduces an updated Hive hook jar (version 1.2.3) with minor improvements. It ensures that jobs continue to run without failure even if the ad-events service is unavailable. For more information, see Cluster Configuration Changes.

Version 3.7.0

Pulse now supports ODP distributions installed on RHEL 9 and Ubuntu 22.

What's New

This section consists of new features and enhancements introduced in this release.

Monitors

  • Introduced Kafka 3 Observability: Pulse now monitors the key metrics and components across brokers, producers, consumers, and topics to ensure Kafka 3 on KRaft or Zookeeper performance and uptime. Pulse also monitors JMX metrics for the KRaft Controller. For information about the Kafka 3 observability and cluster configuration changes needed, see Kafka 3, HDP 2.x & 3.x, and ODP 3.2.x. If you have created custom dashboards on the dashplots page for Kafka 2, make sure to update the metrics as shown below.

Pulse supports monitoring of Kafka 3 only when it is deployed as part of ODP. Standalone Kafka 3 deployments are not supported for monitoring in Pulse.
  • HDFS Small File Size Configuration: Pulse identifies an HDFS file as a small file with a size threshold. This is now configurable via setting the variable hdfs.analytics.file.size = xxxxxx (in Bytes) in the cluster configuration file to set the small file size threshold. Files meeting this threshold or smaller are identified as small files and displayed on the HDFS Analytics, Hive Analytics, etc,. pages. For information about the configuration, see Configure HDFS Small File Threshold.
  • Added support for Spark v3 on YARN: Pulse now supports Spark v3 on YARN. The Spark v3 on YARN support is added in the ODP 3.3.6.0-1 release.
  • Automated NiFi Registry Logging: This release automates the NiFi Registry logging into the Pulse Server, simplifying monitoring across multiple clusters with a single Pulse Server.

YARN Optimizer

  • Static Queue Optimization: Pulse YARN Optimizer now supports the optimization of static queues along with dynamic queues within the total available resources. This applies only to capacity schedulers. For details, see Enable Static Queue Optimization, Static Queue Details, and Resource Optimization for YARN Static Queues.

Dashplots

  • Slack Integration with Dashplot Reports: Pulse now supports sending Dashplot reports to users via Slack channel, in addition to email. For more information, see Notifications.
  • Highlight Data in Custom Dashplot: Pulse now provides you with a capability to select a column, specify the highlight type (row or column), and choose the highlight element (background or text). You can then configure values and assign color codes accordingly. The rows or columns that meet the specific conditions set are highlighted as configured, making it easier to identify and track data points in larger clusters. APIs

  • API to fetch Pulse Version details: An API is now available to fetch the version details. For more information, see API to Fetch Version Details.
