This section consists of the unsupported components from this release.
Unsupported Components
From this release, the following components, Python version, and Operating Systems are no longer supported:
- Oozie: Support for Oozie is now unsupported due to outdated technology, limited scalability, cumbersome XML-based workflow management, and declining community support. You are encouraged to migrate to modern workflow scheduling and management tools. Apache Airflow is recommended for its modern, Python-based approach to defining workflows, cloud-native scalability, and strong community backing.
- Spark 2 and HWC-Spark2: Spark 2 has reached its End of life (EOL) and no longer receives updates, performance improvements, or security patches. This release removes support for Spark 2 and its associated Hive Warehouse Connector (HWC). You need to upgrade to Spark 3 for continued support, which includes numerous performance improvements, new features, and better integration with machine learning libraries (For example, MLlib enhancements).
- Python 2 Dependency: Python 2 dependencies are now unsupported in favor of Python 3, aligning with the end-of-life status of Python 2.
- Operating Systems:
- CentOS 7: The Operating System CentOS 7 has reached the end of its maintenance cycle and no longer receives regular updates or security patches. So, it is now unsupported in this release in favor of newer distributions such as RHEL8 and Rocky Linux 8.
- Ubuntu 18.x: The Operating System Ubuntu 18.x has reached its end-of-life for standard support and no longer receives mainstream updates or patches. Unsupported, in this release with a recommendation to move to higher versions of Ubuntu 20.x.
